Today’s modern multi-task machine tools are equipped with a B-axis that can rotate and move the tool, an advanced control system and cutting-edge CAM software, so that the workpiece can complete the main processing tasks with one clamping.

CNC turning-milling composite machining has two main processing forms: contour processing when the workpiece is parallel to the tool axis; surface processing when the workpiece is perpendicular to the tool axis. Contour turning and milling combined machining is similar to the use of spiral interpolation milling to process the inner and outer contours of rotating workpieces; while face machining type turning and milling combined machining can only process the outer surface.

Although CNC turning and milling combined processing looks very similar to turning processing, it is as simple as turning with a rotating milling cutter, but the two processing methods are essentially different. The cutting speed of turning-milling compound processing is determined by the rotation speed of the milling cutter; the cutting speed, which is different from turning processing, is defined by the rotation speed of the workpiece. The rotational speed of the workpiece in the turning-milling compound machining is only related to the feed.
