Genesis will showcase its latest advancements in high-performance actuators at IREX 2019

Vancouver, Canada – Genesis Robotics and Motion Technologies (Genesis) announced today that it will showcase its revolutionary direct drive motor technology and innovative gear solutions for robotics applications at the International Robotics Exhibition (IREX). IREX 2019 will be held at Tokyo Big Sight, Japan from December 18th to 21st. Genesis’ booth is at W4-33.

Since entering the market with the LiveDrive® direct drive motor (LiveDrive®), the company has been developing high torque, small form factor solutions to increase productivity and reduce total cost of ownership in robotics and industrial automation. LiveDrive® provides higher acceleration and velocity and greater detent torque for direct drive actuators, eliminating the need for traditional gear and belt drives, simplifying actuator design, and significantly improving reliability.

“IREX is the world’s largest robotics trade show and we are delighted to share our latest developments and products with the robotics industry. Over the past four years, Genesis has significantly improved LiveDrive while developing next-generation gear and actuator solutions. ® product portfolio,” said Chris Di Lello, CEO of Genesis. “Through collaboration and joint development with leading robotics manufacturers and automation integrators, Genesis is better positioned to create greater value for its customers. We look forward to further collaboration with the industry at IREX 2019.”

Genesis will be showcasing LiveDrive® motors in a variety of sizes and configurations, giving visitors the opportunity to see for themselves what is smaller than traditional motors. Genesis’ product portfolio represents the highest level of performance at a third the size of existing motor technology, currently capable of acting in both axial and radial flux. Their bespoke construction also means that many parameters can be optimised according to the unique needs of customers.

Genesis’ revolutionary Reflex® Torque Amplifier gearing solution, a unique technology designed to deliver the same torque as conventional gearboxes at a fraction of the weight, will also be up for your viewing. Made from an injection-moulded high-performance plastic, Reflex® reduces the weight of robotic joints and provides a back-driveable solution for applications such as workplace robots that can be used in small businesses and commercial enterprises.

“Reducing the weight of robotic actuators is key to generating a wide range of benefits,” said James Klassen, CTO of Genesis. “For example, Reflex® torque amplifiers are very lightweight and have low inertia. Reflex® features a unique, patented design that is more robust than metal gearboxes. Higher torque density, enabling our customers to develop high-performance robots that are lighter, more manufacturable, and faster. The center output configuration allows more freedom in design to create new robot shapes. Visitors to the Genesis booth will be able to Experience its back-drive effect with ease.”
